Groups, Conferences & Events Manager - 12/01/22

The Groups, Conferences & Events Manager will be responsible for the successful event planning, sales and overall execution of all Conference & Events that take place within the hotel. • Will maximize revenue opportunities in the areas of group bookings, conferences and events by driving sales leads and increasing conversions. • The role will interact frequently with customers and guests to learn about their needs and develop relationships to gain repeating and expanded business. • Reaches personal sales goals and, together with the DOS and Revenue Director, executes overall sales strategy of the hotel. • The Groups, Conferences & Events Manager will be responsible for leading the GC&E team & manage direct reports. Principal Accountabilities Managing Sales Activities: • Maximize all GC&E (Groups, Conferences, and Events) revenue opportunities • Manage the department’s day-to-day operations and activities, through implementation of the selling strategy, yielding of the meeting & events spaces. • Maximize revenue opportunities in the areas of group bookings, congresses and events by driving sales leads and increasing conversion. • Maximize occupancy and average rates through well-executed inventory and yield management control. • Identify the most profitable services that the hotel can deliver with quality and most profitably. • Ensure the M&E (Meeting & Events) team members are developed effectively and generate a culture of high-quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and billing & processing contracts. • Manage and develop the GC&E Sales Team to ensure career progression and personal development within the hotel and company. • Conduct an effective recruitment process, with support of the HR department and/or DOS, to engage new GC&E Executive Sales Team members. • Accurate administration and control of all M&E related reservations and blocks. • Ensure that all events are handed over to the Food & Beverage Operations Team every week in a timely manner! and that all the information is accurate, confirmed and billing details are documented and in line with the credit policy of the hotel. • Conduct site inspections for companies & agencies in line with the company policy and in collaboration of the Field Sales Team. • Support the F&B operations and room reservations team with information as required. • Ensure all information is dispatched to the Chef and Operations Team in a timely manner to guarantee they can order and make a work schedule in the effective way. • Attend sales events, as required by the DOS. • Liaise with field Sales Team of the hotel to confirm their accounts / segments perform in line with expectations / set KPI’s of the hotel. • Put & keep the hotel as leader in the market through the development of future and repeat business. • Act as an “Ambassador” for the Cardo brand & hotel. Avenue du Boulevard, Bolwerklaan 14 1210 Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (Brussels) cardohotels.com Building Successful Relationships • Safeguard the highest standards of event management are in place, including building relationships with new/existing customers in order to secure returning business. • Build strong relationships with customers, guests and team members in order to gain full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively. • Meet & greet dedicated conference contact or organizer to check on their satisfaction, set-up of the meeting rooms… planning in general on the day of the event. • Sets a positive example for guest relations Knowledge of Market Trends • Analyze competitors' activities and pricing strategies. • Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc... and knows how to sell against them. • Understand the competitive marketplace and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays ahead in the local market. • Using knowledge of market trends, tools (MICE VIEW, Cvent,…) and target customer information to maximize revenues. Additional Sales Involvement • Review business plans, identify gaps and ensure proactive efforts to fill capacity and meet set targets. • Contribute to the selling strategy of the hotel and manage the departments’ adherence to achieving that strategy. • Support the DOS in reporting on incoming demand in the city & the hotel, on conversion ratios by using the available tools. Implement an action plan to increase sales opportunities in the GC&E department. • Set up invoices for events in line with quotations and forward them to the accounting department with relevant back-up documentation to expedite payment

Compétences requises:   Action orientated with a high drive for results • Engaging personality • Passion for hospitality service • A people-person • Positive attitude & very effective communicator • Ability to work under pressure • Problem-solver Fluent in English, French and Dutch, an extra language is an asset. • Strong understanding of MICE environment & tools (Cvent, MICE VIEW,…) • Internationally experienced • Affinity with a more refined lifestyle • Management skills in leading a team Has demonstrated the ability to always work on behalf of guests. • Has demonstrated the ability to cooperate with other team members & departments in the hotel, particularly field sales team & revenue department and operational teams, to create an exceptional guest experience. • Successful track record of working in a commercial collaborative/matrixed environment. • Strong commercial understanding; including Sales, Group Sales, Meetings and Events fields • Experience in a (reactive) sales role with a proven track record to convert sales deals, MICE requests.
